Since I was a little kid i'd wanted to visit Denmark, I remember watching a documental about all the countries in Europe, when they talked about Denmark they rated it as "The happiest country in the world" so I told my mom " someday I'll live there" It sounds silly, but now that i've grown up I still woull like to go there someday, maybe doing a semester abroad.
I know many things about this country, one of the things i like about it, is their concern about environmental issues, this has historically taken a progressive stance on environmental preservation. Actually a couple of years ago in Copenhague, the capital, took place the united nations climate change conference where they talked about global warming and the Kioto Protocol. Another thing I like about Denmark are their social programs, you as a citizen pay really high taxes but you have social secury programs, health care and quality education for free. Their culture is very open minded about new cultures and people from different countries. When I was a kid I didn't understand why they said it was the happiest country in the world but now I kinda do, I mean if you live in a country that is environmental friendly, if you dont have to worry about health care or education, if your normal working week is way less than all the other countries (about 37 hours) and you have more time for entertainment and fun, I surely would be happier :)Well as i said i would like to study there, maybe do an exchange program for a semester to learn more about the country and get to know the culture a little bit better.
Wow, Denmark... I feel so silly writing about Harry Potter and beautiful landscapes, while you're worring about enviroment, climate change, social programs and free education.
ResponderEliminarI had a friend that had even bought the tickets to Copenhague because she wanted to go there too, but finally she changed her plans and didn't travel... so sad, she missed the oportunity of being in the happiest country in the world.
See you!
It's amazing that since you were just a kid you wanted to live in a place like this. Another European country that has similar characteristics I've heard of is Norway. Both countries seem like very nice places to live in.
ResponderEliminarI agree with CataRojas. I wrote about Italy and it`s amazing cities and the culture, but you Javi, you really know a lot of your country! The environmental issues are very important...today, it is global concern. Also, I`m surprised about their social programs; I wish I could travel there someday. I wanna stay in the happiest country on the world...
ResponderEliminarps. I love your post
I knew that nordic countris were the richest, that they have one of the best educational systems and all those things, so even if I didn't know that they are the happiest, it´s not a surprise xD
ResponderEliminarI agree with the girls, you're post is great ;)
Yeah, your post is very good. Maybe the high alcoholism levels of the danish population explain in part the title of the happiest country in the world, hahah ;) I'm just kidding.
ResponderEliminarWell, the path of developing made by the nordic countries has an interesting story. Every country tries to imitate that way, but they can't if they haven't done some steps, like to industrialize, to educate, and to make the citizen a real sovereign.
I liked a lot your post! I didn't know that much about Denmark; it's really the happiest country in the world.
ResponderEliminarWhen I was in Germany, whit my "family" traveled on vacations to Denmark. It's really a beautiful place! we were in a house at the beach for one week, and the people who live there are so... calm down and relaxed! we also were at a boat-museum, whit vikings stuff and things like that. Eventough danish is a very complicated languaje, they help you a lot when you're trying to talk whit them. And the water there, at the beach, is warmer than chilean's water. I already keep some coins from there!
see you at class! :)
wow, you know a lot about Denmark
ResponderEliminari don't know that much, but it 's very interesting their enviromental friendly life style..
the other day i just saw a short video about denmark and their cycling culture..and, yes, it's amazing and kind of what we in Chile and specially Santiago should do (less talking and complaining about the traffic and more cycling!)
